Mark and Darby Travers & Family
Mark and Darby Travers have served the Lord together for over thirty-five years. Mark has served as a youth minister, Christian school Bible teacher and head soccer coach, and church day camp director. After pioneering ministry to international students in the local church and helping Mark to lead a home school support ministry, Darby devotes herself to her calling as wife, mother, and grandmother, and has a particular passion to encourage other women, especially young mothers. She leads women’s Bible studies, speaks in marriage and parenting seminars and women’s conferences, and joins Mark in some of the ministry’s biblical counseling.
In 2004, Mark and Darby stepped out in faith and launched Turning Hearts Ministries. Believing that strong Biblical leadership by fathers is foundational for family renewal, Mark's passion involves encouraging and equipping men to rise up as leaders and shepherds of their families and challenging parents to turn their hearts toward their children and children to turn their hearts toward their parents as God makes ready a people prepared for the Lord.
The Travers attend Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham , AL, where Mark serves as an elder. They live in historic Ashville, Alabama. Mark and Darby have six children - Evan (Sarah and Sophia) Graham (Hayley and Timothy, James, David, Daniel), Christopher (Bethany), Michael, Beth Anne, and John Luke. Evan and Graham’s families are each expecting another child this year!
